SEARCY, Ark. – Southeastern pitching combined for a pair of shutout victories, taking game one on Saturday 2-0 before winning the finale 3-0 to complete a series sweep of Harding in Searcy, Ark.
Â
The sweep moves the Savage Storm to 14-16 overall on the year and 9-6 in Great American Conference play with its next action coming March 25-26 when they host Arkansas Tech in a three-game series at the Ballpark in Durant.
Â
Logan Terwilliger handled allt he scoring in the first game, posting an RBI single in the fifth to score
Bryson Allen and adding an RBI single in the seventh to plate
Dylan Helms, opening up a 2-0 lead which is all they would need.
Â
He finished the game 2-for-4, while
Kaleb Thomas and
Corban Taylor each added a pair of hits.
Â
Four others added a hit each as SE posted 10 on the contest.
Â
Conversely, Southeastern pitching allowed just two hits from the Bisons as
Mike Wade got the start and collected hit third win after going 6.2 innings and scattering a pair of hits with four strikeouts.
Â
Brady Colbert came on in relief and picked up his sixth save of the year after tossing 2.1 innings without allowing a base runner and striking out three.
Â
Terwilliger carried his momentum into the finale as well, posting a two hit outing with an RBI and a run scored.
Â
Greg Husnander added a pair of hits in the game, while
Brandon Grimsley drove in a pair of runs.
Â
Grimsley put the Storm on the board with a two-run homer in the first inning which plated Terwilliger.
Â
Terwilliger would then add an RBI of his own in the third on a single which scored Helms to open up a 3-0 lead.
Â
Those three runs would be all they needed as
Scott Richards and Matt Benedict would combine to scatter seven hits in seven innings with no runs.
Â
Richards got the start but took a no decision after throwing the first three innings and allowing three hits and striking out one before Benedict came on to toss the final four innings, allowing four hits and striking out four and earning his second win of the season.
