DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern stranded 20 runners over two games and saw its 15 game winning streak and a perfect conference record come to an end in losses of 6-3 and 7-4 to Harding on Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field.
Â
The losses dropped the Savage Storm to 18-89 overall and 14-2 in Great American Conference play with the final two games in the series set for noon on Sunday.
Â
A four-run top of the first inning was SE's undoing in game one as the Bisons had a pair of triples in the inning and opened up a 4-0 lead.
Â
The Storm would cut into it with a
Mykaela Wallace RBI single in the second to make it 4-1.
Â
HU would add a run in the third for a 5-1 lead, but the Storm answered again with another Wallace RBI to make it 5-2.
Â
The Bisons added one more run on an RBI double in the top of the fourth, and again Southeastern answered with a RBI groundout to make it 6-3 which would hold to be the final as neither team would get on the board in the final three innings.
Â
Destiny Riddle,
Sydney Kramer,
Jordyn James and Wallace each recorded a hit, with Wallace driving in two and Riddle adding one of her own.
Â
Jessica Seay got the start and was saddled with the loss after tossing 3.1 innings and allowing five runs on six hits.
Â
Riddle tossed 2.0 innings in relief and allowed a run on a hit, with
Hunter Offill adding 1.2 innings of work without allowing a run or a hit.
Â
In game two Riddle posted a 3-for-3 outing with a pair of RBI, while
Laramie Beal added a pair of hits.
Â
Four others added one hit each as the Storm tallied nine on the game.
Â
Keeshia Thompson drove in a run in addition to Riddle's two RBI.
Â
Emily Cudd got the start and took the loss after tossing 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Â
Seay was hit for a pair of unearned runs on a hit in two-thirds of an inning, while Riddle came on to throw 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with one K.
Â
HU opened up a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but this time Southeastern had an answer in the second when Riddle connected on a two-run double up the middle to score
Conner Harmon and Thompson.
Â
However, a three-run homer for the Bisons in the top of the third would wing the lead back in their favor at 4-2.
Â
Harmon would score on an error after a Riddle hit in the fourth to close the gap to 4-3.
Â
Unfortunately, HU would add a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to open up a 7-3 lead.
Â
A Thompson RBI in the seventh would score Beal, but the Storm was unable to mount a proper rally in the 7-4 loss.
