DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern split a pair of matches against top-25 teams over the weekend, picking up a 5-4 win at No. 25 Washburn before suffering its first loss of the year, 5-1 at No. 16 Northwest Missouri State.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 7-1 overall on the year heading into a March 29 home matchup with St. Edward's at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern tennis Complex.

In the first matchup against WU, Southeastern fell at one doubles before rallying on a 9-7 win by
Tiago Ferreira and
Alberto Blesa at number two.

Mislav Colak and
Petar Popovic pushed the lead to 2-1 with a 9-8 win in doubles play.

The Storm would suffer losses at the top three singles positions and find itself in a 4-2 hole.

Jack Gibbens would have the first answer with a 6-4, 6-01 win at number four singles, followed by Colak's 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win at number five to knot the match at 4-4.

Ferreira would finish the match off with a 6-3, 603 win at number six to seal the 5-4 win.

Against NWMSU, the duo of Colak and Popovic would pick up the only Storm point with an 8-6 win at the three doubles position.

SE would fall at the top three singles spots to end up on the wrong end of a 5-1 final score.
