SHAWNEE, Okla. – After a slow start in the opening set, Southeastern found a rally hard to come by in a 3-0 loss to Missouri Western State to open play at the GAC-MIAA Crossover on Friday afternoon in Shawnee, Okla.

The Storm dip to 5-4 overall on the year and will next faceoff with Pitt State at 6 p.m. Friday evening.

Abby Jameson led the offense with nine kills, while
Erika Costain added seven and
Julia Benford chipped in six without an error.

Alissa Benson dished out 24 assists in the effort while also adding four digs and a pair of kills.

Caitlin Cosby continued her strong defensive output, posting 20 digs in the three-set match out of the team's 37 total.

The opening set was rough for SE as they finished with just four kills and hit .000, going on to be outscored 25-16 in the set.

The Storm bounced back in the second set and held a 21-19 lead late, but was outscored 6-to-2 over the final eight points to fall 25-23.

SE jumped ahead early in the third set, going up 7-2 out of the gate before MWSU would rally and the teams found themselves tied at 14-14. The Griffons would then reel off five straight to regain the lead and the Storm was unable to recover in a 25-20 loss in the match-clinching set.
