SE Holds on For Win Over Rival Tigers

DURANT, Okla. – Emem David posted a double-double and Olivia Potter led all scorers in the contest as Southeastern held on for a 57-51 victory over rival East Central on Monday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The win is the third-straight for the team and lifts them to 8-5 overall and 6-3 in Great American Conference play heading into a Wednesday night road trip to Southwestern Oklahoma State for a 5:30 p.m. contest in Weatherford, Okla.

Potter turned in a game-best 14 points, while David and Rachel Wallace added 11 points apiece.

Sa'Liesha Hunter turned in seven assists to trigger the offense.

That offense was buoyed by an impressive 16-of-19 effort at the free throw line as a team which included two made freebies by Hunter and another two by Wallace all inside the final 30 seconds to secure the victory.

David wrapped up the massive portion of her double-double on the boards where she hauled in a season-high 16 rebounds, pulling down eight on offense and another eight on defense.

The Tigers took the lead early and after playing to an 8-8 tie, they would pull ahead for a 15-11 lead after one quarter.

The Storm found its answer big time in the second quarter where they managed to outscore ECU 14-5 in the quarter, including reeling off the final 20 points of the half to take a 25-20 lead at the break.

SE extended that lead in the third, going up by as many as 15 points on a Potter jumper at 43-28 before taking a 43-33 lead into the final frame.

The Tigers stormed back, closing the gap to two points three times, first at the 2:51 mark, then at the 1:01 mark and finally with 27 seconds to play.

The first two were answered by Potter jumpers and the final time saw Hunter drain a pair of free throws to make it a two possession game, followed by Wallace's free throws to ice and make the final 57-51.
