SE Scores 78-66 Win over TAMUC

COMMERCE, Texas – Katie Webb turned in a double-double and Southeastern shot nearly 50 percent from the floor en route to a non-conference victory over Texas A&M-Commerce, 78-66, on Sunday afternoon in Commerce, Texas.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 3-2 overall on the year heading into their first conference road swing, facing Arkansas-Monticello at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in Monticello, Ark.

Webb finished with game-highs in points and rebounds with 19 points and 11 boards while also adding a pair of blocks and a pair of steals.

She was joined in double-figures by Emem David who was 7-of-9 from the floor on her way to 16 points, while Sa'Liesha Hunter went 4-of-6 and finished with 11.

The Storm shot 49.1 percent for the contest and hit six threes, picking up the pace in the second half, hitting 60 percent from the floor and 3-of-7 from three point range.

Webb's 11 rebounds led the way while David chipped in eight.

The contest was back-and-forth early with eight lead changes and TAMUC took an 18-15 lead into the first break.

SE would tie the game once early in the second quarter, however the Lions would maintain the lead for much of the frame until the Storm defense would hold TAMUC without a field goal over the final four minutes and used a 12-2 run, capped by a Courtney Brady jumper, to take a 38-33 lead into halftime.

The third quarter featured four more lead changes, with the Lions going up 51-50 with 1:17 left, but a David layup and a pair of Webb free throws in the final minute would give the Storm a 54-51 edge heading to the final period.

TAMUC would close the Storm lead to three points by the 7:50 mark of the fourth quarter, but an Alix Robinson three would kick off a 7-0 run capped by a Webb layup to go up 65-55.

Overall the Storm would outscore the Lions 22-13 over the final eight minutes to pull away with the 78-66 win.
