MONTICELLO, Ark. – Emem David turned in a season-high 17 points to lift Southeastern to a 51-45 victory over Arkansas-Monticello in its Great American Conference road opener in Monticello, Ark.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 4-2 overall on the year and 2-1 in GAC play heading into a Saturday afternoon contest at 1 p.m. against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia, Ark.

David was 6-of-14 from the floor and led all scorers with 17, while Alix Robinson checked in with nine and Katie Webb turned in eight points.

Webb dished out four assists for the contest, matching teammate Sa'Liesha Hunter who also handed out four assists.

Webb also led all rebounders with 11 on the night, helping SE edge out UAM 38-to-33 on the glass.

The opening quarter featured eight lead changes before the Cotton Blossoms would pull ahead and take a 15-12 lead into the first break.

The Storm fell behind by as many as nine points in the second quarter, but a Webb jumper was followed by a David bucket and a Robinson three as SE scored the final seven points of the half to close the gap to 23-21 at halftime.

Southeastern scored the first two buckets of the second half, taking a lead on an Ariannah Kemp layup. They would later use a 7-0 run capped by a Katie Braman three to go up 35-29 before UAM closed the quarter on a run to make it 35-34 heading to the fourth quarter.

A Branam jumper at the 9:41 mark put SE in front for good in the fourth quarter.  UAM would twice close it to a single possession over the final six minutes, but the Storm would pull ahead to pick up a 51-45 win.
