Southeastern Falls at Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern struggled to find any traction early as Arkansas Tech scored the game's first 31 points and the Savage Storm would go on to fall 48-10 on Saturday afternoon in Russellville, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-4 on the year heading into the season finale and rivalry matchup with East Central on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Paul Laird Field.

Austin Skinner tossed for 187 yards on 15-of-36 passing with a touchdown, while Rollin Kinsaul came on late to complete four passes for 27 yards.

Jaylen Sims was the top target with four catches for 59 yards, while Felton Hatcher had the most yardage after picking up 67 yards on three grabs.  Skye Lowe hauled in three catches as well and the team's touchdown.

Rashod Polk led the way on the ground with 53 yards rushing on eight carries, while Kieron Hardrick added 36 yards on 11 carries.

On defense, Jarrett Ingram turned in a 10-tackle outing, while Hunter Powell was right on his heels with nine.

Seu Luafatasaga and Sherman Gilbert added seven each, while Troy Parker and Andrew McBeth each had a sack.

Joel Carlos connected on a 30 yard field goal and his lone PAT attempt.

ATU got on the board first by marching the opening drive 72 yards on eight plays to take a 7-0 lead, stretching it to 14-0 after SE was forced to punt and the Wonder Boys went 87 yards in five plays.

The momentum slipped further away from the Storm as they would fumble the ensuing kick return at its own 35, but the defense was able to hold ATU to a field goal and trailed 17-0 with 6:05 to go in the first quarter.

Southeastern trailed by the 17-0 margin at the first quarter break, and would take its first drive to midfield, but was forced to punt and ATU's Braden Stringer took the first play 82 yards for a touchdown and a 24-0 lead.

SE would put together a nine play drive and thanks to a big 23 yard Polk run would move to the ATU 27 yard line, but would turn it over on downs.

After the Wonder Boys tacked on a score for a 31-0 lead, the Storm would again march the ball into ATU territory down to the 20 but would turn it over on downs for a second time.

The defense would hold Tech to a three-and-out on its next drive and the offense took advantage, using a 42 yards Skinner to Sims pickup to set up a Skinner to Lowe nine-yard touchdown pass and cut the deficit to 31-7 which would be the halftime margin.

The Storm received the second half kickoff and went 62 yards on eight plays aided in large part by a 46 yard Skinner to Felton Hatcher pickup and capped by a 30 yard Joel Carlos field goal to make it 31-10 with 12:39 to play in the third.

ATU would answer on the ensuing drive with a 57 yard scoring drive to take a 38-10 lead at the 9:46 mark of the third.

The teams traded punts and SE mounted its longest drive of the day, going 76 yards on 11 plays before turning the ball over on downs at the ATU four yard line.

The Wonder Boys would follow by going 77 yards on 13 plays and Eric Perez would hit a 36 yard field goal for a 41-10 lead with 13:17 to play.

ATU would tack on a final touchdown to make the final score 48-10.
