DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern found runs hard to come by on Saturday afternoon as it dropped both ends of a double-header against Southern Arkansas, falling 7-2 in game one before suffering an 8-4 loss in the nightcap at The Ballpark In Durant.

The loss is the sixth-straight and drops the Savage Storm to 1-8 on the year and 0-3 in Great American Conference play.

Jake Perez two-run home run highlighted game one with Perez finishing 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI, while
Brett Akins had a pair of hits and
Cade Clay scored a run.

Cody Nitson got the start and tossed 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout.

Scott Richards would strikeout two but allow a pair of runs on a hit in an inning of work, followed by
Brandon Wolski striking out three but also walking three and allowing a hit.

Michael Brinska added two innings of work and was tagged for two runs, one earned, on two hits with three K's, with
Cory Scheibner finishing off the game with a strikeout in an inning of work.

SAU jumped to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the third and another in the fourth, but the Perez two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth closed the gap to 3-2.

However, the Muleriders would get two more in the fifth and another two in the seventh to stretch out to a 7-2 lead which would be the final.

Akins and
Hunter Harrison each posted a pair of hits in the finale, with Harrison driving in three runs and
Jett Swigart adding an RBI.

Hayden Grimes got the start on the hill and went 1.1 innings, allowing four runs, three of which were earned, on five hits with two strikeouts.

Tristen Wood tossed 3.1 in relief and was tagged for three runs on seven hits with one K.

Harrison came in to pitch as well and lasted 2.0 innings, allowing a run on a hit with one K, while
Jake Patterson finished out the game with one-third of an inning, facing just one batter.

SAU scored in the top of the first, but a Harrison RBI single in the bottom half would plate
Travis Spinney and even the contest at 1-1.

It was short-lived though as the Muleriders would tack on three in the top of the second, but the Storm looked to rally with a two-run Harrison homer in the third to close the gap to 4-3.

That was as close as it would get though as SAU added three in the fifth and one more in the sixth and Swigart would drive in SE's final run on a sac fly in the bottom of the sixth to fashion the 8-4 final score.
