LAREDO, Texas – Southeastern outhit Texas A&M-International, but stranded 14 runners and dropped a 6-4 decision in the season opener on Friday afternoon in Laredo, Texas.

The Savage Storm will be back in action at 1 p.m. for a double-header with the Dustdevils at Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo.

Brett Akins and
Micah Simmer each turned in two hit outings, while six others had a hit each as SE picked up 10 as a team.

Jett Swigart drove in a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot to lead the Storm, while Akins added an RBI as well.

Akins and Simmer each stole a base is well.
Â
Scott Richards got the start on the hill and tossed a pair of scoreless innings before hitting the wall in the third where he was touched up for five runs on three hits, finishing the outing with 2.2 innings pitched and posting three walks and one strikeout.

Brandon Wolski came on in relief and lasted 4.1 innings, allowing a run on five hits with three strikeouts.
Â
Jake Patterson would toss two-thirds of an inning and allow a hit and strikeout one, with Hunter Garrison coming on to finish the game and record the final out while facing one batter.

Southeastern did all of its damage in the third inning, starting with a two-RBI Swigart single which plated
Ty Hanson and Simmer.
Â
Garrin Young would then reach on an error which allowed
Jake Perez to score, while Akins would follow up with an RBI single to plate Swigart for a 4-0 lead.
Â
However, in the bottom of the third inning The Dustdevils would plate five runs and swipe the lead.
Â
The Storm was unable to find an answer, as TAMIU added another run in the seventh to take a 6-4 lead which would be the final score.
Â
Southeastern left the bases loaded in fourth and the seventh innings and had the tying run on base in the ninth before the game ended.
