Softball Drops Both Ends of Twinbill

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southeastern fell victim to a late-inning outburst in game one, but found itself playing catch-up in game two en route to a pair of losses on Friday afternoon to Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla.

The Savage Storm dip to 11-9 overall and 5-5 in Great American Conference play after dropping game one 7-3 and game two 6-3.  The final two games in the series are set for an 11 a.m. double-header on Saturday.

In the opener SE was led by Keeshia Thompson who posted three of the team's eight hits, while five others had one each.

Thompson also collected a pair of RBI, while Mykaela Wallace added one.

Emily Cudd got the start and took the loss after recording all 6.0 innings while allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits with a strikeout.

Destiny Riddle faced one batter and allowed one run.

SWOSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but a Wallace RBI single in the second would even the game at 1-1.

A Thompson double in the third would put the Storm up 2-1, but the Bulldogs would answer in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2.

Another Thompson RBI double in the fifth would gain the lead at 3-2, but SWOSU would blow up for five runs in the sixth to take the game 7-3.

In game two Kennedy Salyers turned in a three-hit outing, while Conner Harmon and Thompson each tallied a pair of hits.

Harmon would drive in two runs in the game, while Marisa Fleck would add an RBI.

Ashley Moore got the start and tossed 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of work before Salyers came in to face three batters and was touched up for a run on two hits.

Riddle tossed 3.1 innings in relief and scattered two hits and two K's before Cudd came on to toss an inning and allow a hit.

Harmon put SE up 1-0 in the first by plating Salyers on a squeeze bunt, but SWOSU would pick up three in the bottom half for a 3-1 edge.

Fleck would then add a sac fly in the top of the second to trim the deficit to 3-2, but the Bulldogs added another three run inning in the bottom of the second to mount a 6-2 lead.

A Harmon RBI single in the third would prove to be the final scoring for either team as SE fell 6-3.
