DURANT, Okla. – Despite moving the series from Bethany to the southeastern Softball Field, the Savage Storm were unable to rally on day two of its series with Southern Nazarene, dropping game one 4-1 before falling in the finale 7-4 on Saturday.
Â
SE falls to 16-26 overall on the season and 10-22 in Great American Conference play.
Â
Even though they were playing on their home field, the Storm spent both games batting as the visiting team since SNU was still technically the home team for the series.
Â
Emily Cudd posted a 3-for-3 outing in the opener at the plate, with
Destiny Riddle,
Conner Harmon and
Mykaela Wallace each adding a hit.
Â
No one would record an RBI, with Wallace accounting for the team's run on a stolen base.
Â
Cudd would also take the loss in a complete game after allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits with one strikeout.
Â
SNU would take a 1-0 lead in the first, but Wallace would steal home in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1.
Â
However, the Crimson Storm would add a two-run homer in the third and an RBI double in the fourth to pull ahead 4-1 and that would hold to be the final.
Â
The finale saw Wallace post a 3-for-3 outing at the plate, with
Symphoni Shomo adding a pair of hits, while four others had one each.
Â
Brittany Chatellier turned in three RBI with three-run homer, while a Wallace solo shot accounted for her one RBI.
Â
Riddle would get the start and toss a complete game while allowing seven runs, four earned, on 11 hits with one strikeout.
Â
SNU posted a three run fourth as well as a three run fifth while sandwiching a one run third inning in the middle to open up a 7-0 lead on the Storm.
Â
A Wallace solo homer in the top of the seventh would spark a rally and it was followed by a three-run shot by Chatellier to close the gap to 7-4.
Â
SE would get the tying run to the plate, but were unable to strike again in the 7-4 loss.
