DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern sent its lone senior
Conner Harmon out with one win as part of a Senior Day split on Saturday against Oklahoma Baptist, winning game one 3-2 in regulation before dropping the series finale 3-2 in 11 innings at the Southeastern Softball Field.
Â
The split moves the Savage Storm to 18-30 overall on the season and 12-26 in Great American Conference play while also marking the final home game for Harmon who has spent four seasons on the SE roster as the team's starting catcher and is the final member of the program's 2014 National Finals team to exhaust her eligibility.
Â
In the opener,
Kennedy Salyers connected on two of the team's four hits, with
Conner Harmon and
Emily Cudd adding one each.
Â
Harmon would drive in both runs on a first inning RBI single.
Â
Cudd would collect the win after tossing a complete 7.0 inning contest and allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits with one strikeout.
Â
Harmon put the Storm on the board in the bottom of the first with a single up the middle which plated
Destiny Riddle and Salyers for a 2-0 lead.
Â
OBU would get on the board in the second, but
Keeshia Thompson would score on an error in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.
Â
That was useful as insurance as the Bison would tack on a run in the fifth to close the final score to 3-2.
Â
In the finale Harmon again struck first for the Storm with a two-run double in the bottom of the first which plated Thompson and Riddle for a 2-0 edge.
Â
OBU would answer with a run in the second and another in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2 and the game would eventually find its way into extra innings.
Â
There the Storm would leave a runner in scoring position in the eighth, but were unable to threaten runs after that, allowing the Bison to take the lead with a two-out triple to right center in the top of the 11
th.
Â
Thompson nearly tied the game with a home run, but was robbed by an over-the=-wall grab by the left fielder and SE would fall in the contest 3-2.
