MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern opened the final series of the season with a pair of tough beats against No. 14 Southern Arkansas, falling 5-1 in game one and 13-4 in game two on Friday afternoon in Magnolia, Ark.
 
The losses drop the Savage Storm to 18-32 overall and 12-28 in Great American Conference play with the final two games set for noon Saturday.
 
Destiny Riddle, Emily Cudd and Ashton Adkins each collected a hit in game one while Conner Harmon drove in a run.
 
Cudd also took the loss in the circle after allowing five runs on six hits with two strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work while Riddle tossed one-third of an inning and earned a strikeout.
 
SE broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Harmon reached on an error but in the process drove in Riddle for a 1-0 edge.
 
That lead held until the sixth inning when SAU answered with five runs to make the final score 5-1.
 
Symphoni Shomo and Kennedy Salyers each had two hits in the nightcap, while adding two RBI apiece. Five others each added a hit, with Keeshia Thompson and Harmon driving in a run each.
 
Riddle got the start and took the loss after tossing four innings and allowing 10 runs, nine earned, on seven hits.
 
Cudd would toss 1.1 innings in relief and allowed three runs on five hits.
 
SAU took a 1-0 lead in the first, but SE would regain the lead in the top of the third when back-to-back singles from Shomo and Salyers would drive in runs and make it 2-1.
 
The lead was short-lived however as the Muleriders added four runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-2 edge.
 
It would grow to 10-2 before the found an answer in the fifth with RBI hits from Thompson and Harmon to make it 10-4.
 
SAU would score last though with a three run sixth to force the run rule and hand SE a 13-4 loss.
