DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Washburn in game one to close out the 2017 home schedule with a commanding 11-2 win on Wednesday afternoon at The Ballpark in Durant.
The split moves the Savage Storm to 15-26-1 heading into the final series of the regular season, a three-game set at East Central.
In the finale
Travis Spinney,
Luke Thomas and
Jake Perez each knocked out a pair of hits, while
Hunter Harrison,
Brett Akins and
Micah Simmer added one apiece.
Thomas and Akins each collected three RBI in the game.
Mike Wade got the start and allowed a pair of runs on one hit in 2.1 innings of work.
Harrison came on in relief and tossed the final 4.2 innings, allowing no runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
A Thomas sac fly in the first would stake SE to an early 1-0 lead.
WU would answer though with a two run third to briefly take the lead.
Perez would score on an error following a Spinney bunt single in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2.
That tie would break when Spinney scored on a wild pitch later in the inning, followed by an RBI double by Akins to plate Harrison for a 4-2 edge.
A Thomas RBI single in the fifth coupled with an Akins sac fly would extend that advantage to 6-2.
Perez would single in the sixth and the Storm would take advantage of an error to score
Ty Hanson which kicked off a five-run sixth inning.
Simmer followed him in on a wild pitch, as did Perez before Thomas singled home Spinney for a 10-2 lead.
Akins would connect on another sac fly top plate
Cade Clay and fashion the 11-2 final score.
In the first game of the day the Storm got a complete game out of
Cody Nitson who allowed three runs on six hits over 7.0 innings with four K's, but was saddled with the loss.
Thomas added two more hits, while Clay and Harrison had one each.
The Ichabods would score a pair of runs in the first and neither team was able to muster any offense until a solo homer for WU in the top of the third made the final score 3-0.
