Storm Swept on Final Day of Crossover

BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern closed out its trip to the GAC/MIAA Crossover with a tough day in Bethany, Okla., after dropping a 3-1 decision to Emporia State to open the day and closed it with a 3-0 loss to Missouri Southern State on Friday.
 
The losses drop the Savage Storm to 4-8 to open the year heading into the Great American Conference schedule which opens at Shawnee, Okla., on Sept. 19 against Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m.
 
Abby Jameson paced the offense in the opener with 15 kills, while Erika Costain added 10 in the effort.
 
Alissa Benson dished out 32 assist and added five kills on offense while also posting two blocks and 15 digs in the all-around effort.
 
Caitlin Cosby led the defense again with 16 digs, while Jameson added 10.  At the net Arianna Baker posted four blocks While Costain added three.
 
SE rebounded from a 25-19 loss in the first set to even the match with a 25-21 win in the second.  However, ESU would take the third 25-23 and carry that momentum into a 25-18 win in the final set.
 
In the tourney finale the Storm was edged by a 25-23 score in the first set and was unable to recover any momentum, following up with a 25-20 loss in set two and a 25-10 loss in the final set.
 
Jameson posted her second double-digit kills outing of the day with 11 in the effort, while Baker followed up with six.
 
Jodi Dixon dished out 18 assists on the match and added three kills with 11 digs.
 
Defensively, Cosby turned in 20 digs with Dixon's 11 next in line.
