DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's offensive woes continued as it found itself playing from behind much of the afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Henderson State on Saturday afternoon in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
Â
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-15 overall and 2-7 in Great American Conference play heading into an Oct. 12 road matchup with Arkansas-Monticello.
Â
Errors once again offset the SE efforts as they outkilled HSU, but nearly broke even in kill to error ratio and finished the contest hitting .084.
Â
Paige Hawkins and
Arianna Baker led the offense with seven kills apiece, with
Hallie Smith and
Taylor Robinson right behind with five each.
Â
Sydney Meget again led all setters in the match with 20 assists, while
Jodi Dixon added eight, with each of them adding a pair of digs.
Â
Caitlin Cosby again led Southeastern's back row defenders in the contest with 19 dig, while at the net Baker led the way with three blocks.
Â
SE fell behind early in the first set and was never able to mount a rally in a 25-15 loss, but responded in set two and closed the gap, however a 5-1 mid-set run by the Reddies would put them in front for good as the Storm fell 25-20 in the set.
Â
Southeastern jumped to an early lead in the third set, going up 6-2 before stretching it to as many as five points later at 12-7. A 9-1 HSU run would leave the Storm trailing, but they too would answer with a 5-1 run to tie the match at 18-18. However, the Reddies would take seven of the last nine points to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
