SE Drops Road Matchup at SWOSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – After a solid start led to a lead after one quarter, Southeastern hit a midgame cold spell and Southwestern Oklahoma State took advantage, handing the Savage Storm a 96-70 loss on Saturday afternoon in Weatherford, Okla.
 
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 2-3 overall on the season and 1-1 in Great American Conference play.
 
The Savage Storm held a 17-14 lead after the first quarter after holding SWOSU to 28.6 percent shooting from the floor, including an 0-for-9 effort from behind the arc.
 
However, the Bulldogs would get to the free throw line 13 times in the second quarter, hitting 11 of them to outscore the Storm 24-14 in the quarter to take a 38-31 lead at the halftime break.
 
The third quarter saw SE go cold from behind the arc and finished the frame shooting 23.1 percent from the floor and was outscored 28-14 to head to the fourth quarter down 66-45.
 
Southeastern got back on track in the fourth quarter, hitting 4-of-6 threes and shooting 50.0 percent overall from the field, but it was not enough as they would fall 96-70.
 
Katie Webb led all players on the floor with 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including a 1-of-1 mark on threes, while adding an 8-of-10 effort at the free throw line.
 
Kamryn Cantwell joined her in double-digits with 13.
 
Webb, Tracy Johnson, Alix Robinson, and Katie Branam each dished out three assists as the Storm finished with 15 as a team.
 
Robinson led the way on the glass with nine rebounds, while Cantwell chipped in eight and SE finished with 41 as a team.
