MELISSA, Texas – Southeastern closed out its series against Arkansas-Monticello with a Monday afternoon double-header sweep, taking game one 4-3 before holding on to win the finale 6-5 on Monday afternoon in Melissa, Texas.

The wins lift the Savage Storm to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in Great American Conference play.

In the opener,
Elexis Watson put Southeastern on the board with an RBI double that scored
Destiny Riddle in the top of the first, and the Storm doubled it to a 2-0 lead when Riddle singled home
Sydnee Hinkle in the second.
Â
UAM answered with a solo homer in the third and added a bases-loaded walk in the fourth to knot the game at 2-2 after four innings.

Symphoni Shomo would break that tie with an RBI infield single to score
Kennedy Salyers. Shomo followed by stealing second and scoring a batter later when Riddle singled to center to push the lead to 4-2.

The Cotton Blossoms would get a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to close the gap, but
Kelsey Meeks would retire the side in the seventh to preserve the 4-3 win.

Shomo and Riddle each posted three hits in the contest, with Watson adding two and four others outing up one each.
Â
Riddle would drive in a pair of runs, while Shomo and Watson each added an RBI.
Â
Riddle got the start in the circle and allowed a run on two hits with one strikeout and took a no decision.
Â
Meeks recorded the win after tossing the final four innings and allowing two runs on three hits with one K.
Â
Watson added two more hits in game two along with three RBI, while
Karsyn Brigance connected on a pair of hits with Shomo, Thompson,
Mykaela Wallace, and Salyers adding a hit apiece.

Thompson,
Kendyl Dockter, and Brigance each drove in a run.
Â
Emily Cudd got the start and tossed 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and taking a no decision.

Riddle came on in relief and threw two-thirds of an inning and collected the win.
Â
Meeks came on to throw the final three innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits to earn a save.

UAM jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single and a two-run homer.
Â
The Storm would load the bases with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, allowing Thompson to draw a bases-loaded walk to put SE on the board and that was followed by a bases-clearing three-run double by Watson to take a 4-3 lead.

Brigance would add an RBI single in the top of the sixth, followed by a Dockter RBI groundout in the seventh to open up a 6-3 advantage.

UAM would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to 6-5, but Meeks would coax a pair of fly outs over the final three batters to end the threat and preserve the 6-5 win.
