SE Swept on Day Two at Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – Southeastern found the going tough on day two of the Washburn Invitational, dropping a back-and-forth contest in the day's opener, 3-2, to Colorado State-Pueblo before finishing the event with a 3-0 loss to host Washburn.
 
The losses drop the Savage Storm to 1-3 to open the season.
 
Arianna Baker led the offense in the opener with 12 kills, while Abby Jameson was right on her heels with 11 while Paige Hawkins chipped in eight.
 
Sydney Meget handled the setting duties to the tune of dishing out 36 assists while adding 11 digs and a pair of aces.
 
Caitlin Cosby paced the defense with 23 digs, while Grace Shehadeh and Meget each turned in 11.
 
SE fell behind early with a 25-19 loss in set one, but bounced back with a 25-21 win in the second.
 
CSU-P would again jump ahead with a 25-15 win in set three, but the Storm once again found an answer with a 25-20 win in set four before CSU-Pueblo pulled out the 15-12 win in the fifth set to clinch.
 
Jameson led the Storm offense in the finale against Washburn with nine kills while baker chipped in six.
 
Meget handed out 12 assists while Jodi Dixon added nine to trigger the offense.
 
Cosby led the defense in this match as well with 12 digs, while Erika Costain added eight. Hallie Smith led the net defense with three blocks.
 
WU took lopsided wins in the first two sets 25-16 and 25-13 before the Storm nearly sturck back, forcing bonus rallies in the third set before ultimately falling 26-24.
