Storm Drop GAC Opener Versus OBU

DURANT, Okla. – Errors proved costly for Southeastern as the Savage Storm dropped the Great American Conference opener versus Oklahoma Baptist 3-0 on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The Savage Storm slip to 4-9 overall and 0-1 in league play and will be looking to right the ship on Sept. 13 when it travels to Ada, Okla., to face rival East Central at 7 p.m.

SE was plagued by errors, finishing with 21 attack errors, five service errors and nine reception errors, and thus were unable to gain any traction offensively.

Abby Jameson paced the Storm offense with 11 kills and finished the match hitting .500 on 20 attacks.

Caroline Griffith was next in line with five, while Hallie Smith and Jaclyn Menner each had four.

Sydney Meget triggered the offense with 19 assists, while Jodi Dixon added five in alternating duty at setter.

Defensively, Caitlin Cosby turned in a 22 dig effort, leading all defenders and accounting for half of Southeastern's digs by herself. Meget and Dixon were next in line with six digs apiece.

After dropping the first set 25-11, the Storm looked to bounce back in the second and led 16-15 midway through the set, but a 7-1 OBU run would give the Bison control en route to a 25-20 set two win. In the third set it was another late OBU run that spelled trouble for the Storm as the visitors would take the final set 25-19.
