Jameson Posts 20 Kills in SE Loss

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Despite taking a set off the home team, Southeastern was unable to pick up the road win over Arkansas Tech, falling 3-1 on Friday evening in Russellville, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-12 overall and 2-4 in Great American Conference play heading into a Saturday afternoon matchup with Harding at 2 p.m. in Searcy, Ark.

Abby Jameson paced all attackers on the night, leading SE with 20 kills, while Arianna Baker was next in line with 12 while Jaclyn Menner added seven.

Sydney Meget led the setting duo with 23 assists while Jodi Dixon added 11.

Caitlin Cosby led all defenders with 22 digs, while Meget wrapped up a double-double with 11 digs with Menner next in line with 10.

Hallie Smith and Hannah Grant each recorded a team-best two blocks.

SE led the first set early, but a 10-2 run by ATU erased that advantage as the Golden Suns would pull ahead for a 25-19 win.

The Storm rebounded and evened the match at 1-1, using a huge 15-3 run to overcome an early deficit and go up 17-8 before holding on for a 25-19 win in the set.

The teams traded runs early in set three, but the momentum slipped away from SE as it had problems putting together consecutive points which allowed ATU to pull ahead and take the set 25-18.

IN the fourth set the teams again traded shots early, but the Suns would edge ahead midway through the set and closed with a 4-1 run to hand SE a 25-18 loss in the final set.
