MONTICELLO, Ark. – Despite scoring first in both contests, Southeastern found itself on the losing end twice in a double-header at Arkansas-Monticello, falling 11-6 in the opener before dropping the nightcap 6-2 in Monticello, Ark.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 11-12 overall and 7-7 in Great American Conference play heading into the series finale at noon on Sunday.

Colton Buckner paced Southeastern in the opener with a 3-for-3 performance that included a home run and three RBI, while
Harrison Whitworth added two hits and a home run.
Â
Austin Ferguson and
Luke Thomas would also chip in RBI.

Bryce Deatherage got the start and tossed 5.2 innings allowing seven runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work, earning the loss.

Jordan Compton tossed 2.0 innings in relief and was tagged for three runs on a hit with three K's before
Beau Swimmer came in to record one-third of an inning, allowing a run on a hit with two strikeouts.

A Ferguson RBI single was followed up by a two-run Buckner home in the top of the first inning to stake the Storm to a 3-0 lead in game one.

UAM would get a run back in the second, but a Buckner RBI single in the third would stretch the lead back to 4-1.

The Boll Weevils closed that gap with two runs in the third and tied the game with a run in the fifth.

A Thomas double would plate Buckner in the top of the sixth to regain the lead, but UAM would put up four runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-5 lead.

Whitworth would lead off the seventh with a solo homer to close the gap to 8-6, but the Weevils would add on three in the eighth to fashion the final of 11-6.

Ferguson collected a pair of hits in the nightcap with an RBI, while
Drew Bolin added a hit and an RBI as well.

Mason Whitmarsh got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.

Jacob Bigham would record the final one-third of an inning, facing two batters.

Back-to-back doubles by Bolin and Ferguson would put the Storm on the board first with a 2-0 lead.

UAM answered with a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to go ahead 3-2.

The Weevils would add a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to make the final score 6-2.
