SE Tops UCO in Midweek Matchup

EDMOND, Okla. – Davis Jenks homered twice and Southeastern collected 11 hits en route to a 9-8 win over No. 30 Central Oklahoma on Tuesday evening in Edmond, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 12-12 overall heading into a weekend conference series against No. 9 Southern Arkansas at the Ballpark in Durant March 22-23.

Jenks finished the contest 2-for-4 with two home runs and four total RBI to lead all hitters.

Austin Ferguson and Caleb Dubler each added two hits as well, while Drew Bolin, Colton Buckner, Luke Thomas, Harrison Whitworth, and Bryce Deatherage each added a hit.

Ferguson and Buckner each drove in two runs, while Deatherage added an RBI.

Cody Nitson got the start and allowed a run on a hit in one inning of work before Collin Jameson took the hill and allowed one unearned run on two hits with one strikeout.

Jacob Bigham tossed the next 1.2 innings and allowed a run on a hit before Jenks took over from his DH role and tossed 1.1 innings, allowing two unearned runs with one strikeout to collect the win.

Hunter Capps took on the next inning and allowed a hit before handing the ball to Kenneth Klier who held UCO hitless while striking out two.

Logan Teske would toss the final inning and allowed three runs on three hits while striking out two.

SE opened the contest with a Slayde Ortiz walk and a Drew Bolin single which set the stage two batters later for Jenks three-run homer to put the Storm up 3-0.

UCO would answer in the bottom half of the inning with a run on a leadoff homer.

Deatherage would single home Dubler to make the score 4-1 in the top of the second, and SE would continue adding on in the inning with a two-run Ferguson single that scored Ortiz and Deatherage before a Buckner sac fly would plate Bolin and put the Storm in front 7-1.

A Broncho RBI double in the third would cut into the SE advantage and make it 7-2.

Buckner would answer in the top of the fourth for Southeastern with an RBI single to score Bolin a third time and extend the lead to 8-2.

UCO would again get a run in response in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 8-3, and would tack on two more in the sixth to close the gap to 8-5.

Jenks would connect on his second homer of the day to lead off the seventh inning and push the Storm edge to 9-5 midway through the seventh.

A two-run homer and a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth by UCO would nearly erase the Stork lead, but Teske would strike out the final hitter to get out of trouble and preserve the 9-8 win.
