DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's bullpen was tagged for 10 runs over two games and absorbed a pair of losses as the Savage Storm dropped both ends of a double-header against No. 9 Southern Arkansas, falling 7-4 in the opener and 11-8 in the nightcap.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 12-14 overall and 7-9 in Great American Conference play with the series finale slated for noon on Saturday.

Drew Bolin went 4-for-4 in the series opener, scoring twice, while
Caleb Dubler and
Austin Ferguson added two hits apiece.
Â
Ferguson plated three runs in the contest and Dubler drove in one.
Â
Cody Nitson got the start and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out nine in 7.0 innings of work to take a no decision.
Â
Beau Swimmer would toss two-third of an inning and allow a walk and a hit and a pair of runs to take the loss.
Â
Kenneth Klier tossed the final 1.1 innings and allowed a run on a hit with two strikeouts.
Â
The Storm struck first in the opener, cashing in a Bolin leadoff double with an RBI single one batter later from Dubler to take a 1-0 lead.

SE pushed that lead to 2-0 in the third with an RBI fielder's choice by Ferguson to score
Chris Eusay.
Â
SAU would knot the game in the top of the fifth inning with a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2.

The Storm wasted little time in answering, with Bolin and Dubler collecting back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the fifth to set the table for Ferguson to double them both home and regain the lead at 4-2 after five innings.

Unfortunately, the Muleriders would knot the game with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the top of the seventh and tacked on a three-run shot in the top of the eighth to take its first lead of the day which would hold to be the final at 7-4.

Mason Whitmarsh got the start and tossed 4.0 innings while earning a no decision after allowing four runs on six hits with one strikeout.

Jordan Compton came on in relief and faced six batters, walking three and allowing three hits and five runs without recording an out to suffer the loss.

Davis Jenks tossed two-third of an inning without allowing a run while walking two before
Beau Swimmer tossed the final one-third, striking out the only batter he faced.

Logan Teske followed with a shutout inning from
Logan Teske before
Bryce Deatherage came on for the final inning, allowing two runs on one hits. Â

In the nightcap, SAU got on the board first with a two-run home runs in the top of the first.

Southeastern answered with its first homer of the day as Ferguson connected on a two-run shot over the right field wall to tie the game at 2-2 after one inning.

Bolin and Ferguson opened the bottom of the third with back-to-back singles and Buckner made it three-straight with an RBI single to plate Bolin for a 3-2 lead.

That extended to 4-2 a batter later on a Jenks double off the wall which scored Ferguson.

The Storm wrapped up scoring in the inning with a Thomas sac fly to left to plate Buckner for a 5-2 lead.

SAU would swipe one run back in the top of the fourth to close the SE advantage to 5-3.
Â
Ortiz would provide an answer to that run with a solo shot down the right field line for a 6-3 lead.
Â
The Muleriders would explode for six runs in the top of the fifth to regain the lead at 9-6.
Â
Southeastern cut into that gap in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run Ferguson double to score Eusay and Ortiz and close the score to 9-8.

SAU would add a two-run homer in the top of the seventh for insurance and the Storm would fall 11-8.
