DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern used an eight-run fifth inning outburst to power its way to a 16-11 victory over Texas-Tyler in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at The Ballpark in Durant.

The win moves the Savage Storm record to 13-14 overall on the season heading back into conference play on the weekend with a three-game series against Ouachita Baptist on March 29-30 in Arkadelphia, Ark.

SE collected 12 hits on the afternoon and took advantage of nine walks to plate its 16 runs.

Slayde Ortiz,
Austin Ferguson,
Caleb Dubler, and
Chris Eusay each posted a pair of hits, while four others had one apiece.

Ferguson and Dubler each homered, while Eusay collected the team's seventh triple on the year.
Â
Ferguson and Eusay ultimately accounted for three RBI, while Dubler,
Hunter Capps, and
Harrison Whitworth drove in two apiece.

Drew Bolin and
Colton Buckner each turned in an RBI.

SE used seven pitchers in the contest, with
Jacob Bigham getting the start and tossing two innings while allowing two runs on four hits.

Collin Jameson tossed the next 1.1 innings, allowing three runs, one of them earned, on one hit with one strikeout.
Â
Kenneth Klier would record one-third of an inning and was tagged for three unearned runs over four batters faced.

Beau Swimmer would come on to finish that inning and throw 1.1 innings, allowing a run on three hits with two K's to collect the victory.

Jordan Compton came on to add a pair of innings without allowing a run or a hit while striking out three.

Kason Grant tossed the eighth inning and was tagged for a pair of runs on one hit with one strikeout, while
Logan Teske tossed the ninth inning and faced four batters.

The Patriots scored a pair of runs in the second and another in the top of the third to open up a 3-0 lead, but a Ferguson sac fly in the bottom of the third would get SE on the board before later in the inning a Dubler RBI single and an error allowing Capps to reach safely would allow two more runs in and knot the game at 3-3 after three.

UTT would erupt for six runs in the top of the fourth inning and take a 9-3 lead, taking advantage of an SE error that extended the inning with two outs.

SE had an answer in the bottom half, first on an RBI Bolin single followed by a Buckner RBI on an error and a run-scoring wild pitch that allowed Bolin to score and cut the deficit to 9-6 after four innings.

After zipping through the top of the fifth, a Eusay triple would drive in two runs and close the gap to 9-8.

Eusay would later score the game tying run on a wild pitch.

A batter after that play, Ferguson would single home Ortiz for a 10-9 lead.

After loading the bases, Capps would draw an RBI bases-loaded walk, followed by a two-run Whitworth single and an RBI Eusay single to cap an eight-run inning and put the Storm in front 14-9.

A Ferguson solo homer in the sixth would stretch the advantage to 15-9 and a Dubler solo shot in the seventh would move that up to 16-9 after seven.

A two-run homer by UTT in the eighth would close the final score to 16-11.
