Softball Drops Both Ends of Double-Header

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern dropped both ends of a road double-header against No. 5 Southern Arkansas, dropping the opener 5-0 before falling in the nightcap 4-3 in Magnolia, Ark.
 
The losses drop the Savage Storm to 10-18 overall and 8-10 in Great American Conference play with the final two games slated for a 1 p.m. double-header on Saturday.
 
The Storm nearly pulled the upset in the nightcap as Symphoni Shomo collected a trio of hits while Destiny Riddle, Elexis Watson, and Hope Deanda added a pair of hits each.
 
Riddle drove in a pair of runs while Keeshia Thompson added an RBI as well.
 
Emily Cudd took the loss after tossing 6.1 innings and allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts, while Katie McCullar faces two batters in one-third of an inning and allowed a hit.
 
Riddle would double home Shomo and Deanda in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie and stake the Storm to a 2-0 lead.
 
The Muleriders responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead.
 
SE would load the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh before Thompson would score Shomo on a sac fly to tie the game at 3-3, but the Storm would leave the bases loaded without taking the lead.
 
In the bottom half, SAU would load the bases with two outs before scoring the game-winning run on a wild pitch, taking the contest 4-3.
 
The offense was cold in the opener with Thompson and Mykaela Wallace collecting the team's two hits.
 
McCullar got the start and allowed three tuns on six hits with one strikeout while taking the loss in 5.0 innings of work.
 
Riddle would toss an inning in relief and allow two runs on three hits with one K.
 
The Muleriders scored a run in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings and added two more in the sixth to fashion the 5-0 final score.
