SE Drops Both Ends of Saturday Twinbill

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern saw its losing streak extend to six games with a pair of Saturday losses against fifth-ranked Southern Arkansas, falling 8-0 in game one and 10-5 in game two in Magnolia, Ark.

The Savage Storm slip to 10-20 overall on the year and 8-12 in Great American Conference play heading into a midweek conference matchup with East Central in Ada, Okla., on March 26.

Symphoni Shomo, Keeshia Thompson, Ivy Amador, and Felecia Drake each collected a hit in the opener.

Destiny Riddle was saddled with the loss after getting the start and tossing 2.1 innings and allowing four runs on three hits with five walks.

Katie McCullar came on in relief and tossed 3.0 innings and was tagged for five runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

SAU scored two runs in the second and two more in the third before adding three runs in the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth to trigger the 8-0 run rule.

Elexis Watson turned in three hits in game two, while Shomo, Riddle, Thompson, and Kamarie Wallace each added two hits.

Thompson drove in four runs in the contest, while Watson added the other RBI.

Emily Cudd got the start and picked up the loss after allowing seven runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.

Riddle came on in relief and allowed three runs on three hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

In the series finale, Thompson connected on a three-run homer in the top of the third to plate herself along with Elexis Watson and Riddle for a 3-0 lead.

That would hold until the bottom of the fourth when SAU exploded for nine runs on eight hits and taking advantage of one Storm error to take a 9-3 lead after four innings.

The Muleriders would push their lead to 10-3 with a run in the sixth, but the Storm would answer with RBI hits from Watson and Thompson in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 10-5, but that was where the rally would end.
