ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern got some late-game heroics from
Elexis Watson to pick up a 6-5 win in game two against Henderson State and salvage a day one split after dropping the opener 9-2 on Friday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 16-22 overall and 14-14 in Great American Conference play with the final two games in the series slated for a 9 a.m. start on Saturday morning.

In the nightcap,
Symphoni Shomo posted a trio of hits to lead the way, while Watson added a pair of hits and five others picked up a hit apiece.

Watson drove in three in the game and
Mykaela Wallace added two RBI on a two-run homer.
Â
Emily Cudd got the start and tossed 5.2 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts but took a no decision.

Katie McCullar tossed the final 1.1 innings and picked up the victory after allowing just two hits and striking out one.

HSU opened with a run in each of the first three innings to go ahead 3-0.

Southeastern answered in the top of the fourth with a Wallace two-run homer to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Reddies would add a run in the bottom of the fourth, but a Watson RBI groundout followed by an error would bring home tow more Storm runs in the fifth to tie the game at 4-4.

HSU would regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a run, but Watson would come through with her heroics in the top of the seventh, connecting on a two-out two-run double to score Shomo and
Augusta Duty and take a 6-5 lead which would end as the final.

In game one, the Storm got a hit each from five different players with
Karsyn Brigance collecting the team's lone RBI.

McCullar got the start and took the loss after allowing five runs, two earned, on eight hits in 2.2 innings pitched with two strikeouts.

Destiny Riddle tossed 3.1 innings in relief and allowed four hits, three earned, on three hits.

HSU took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but the Storm would take advantage of an error and a Brigance sac fly in the top of the third to even the score at 2-2.

However, the Reddies answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a five spot in the fifth to open up a 9-2 lead which would be the final score.
