Men's Tennis Splits Week

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 nonconference victory over Texas-Permian Basin, but were unable to carry that momentum back home into conference play, falling to Ouachita Baptist 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The split matches move the Savage Storm to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in Great American Conference play and are slated to return to the court April 10 with a road matchup against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Okla.
 
Against the Falcons, SE opened play by earning the doubles point.
 
Benjamin Finet and Ondrej Nice opened with a 6-4 win at the number one position and Danriuch Kruger and Sandro Lena followed suit with a 6-2 win at the two spot to secure the point and a 1-0 lead.
 
UTPB would pick up a win at two to even the score at 1-1, but Nice carried momentum into singles play and picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at the three position to regain a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
The Falcons again evened the match at 2-2, but Juan Scoppetta would rally to pick up a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at the one spot to regain the lead.
 
That was followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win by Finet at number five and a 6-0, 6-3 win by Milos Vuckovic at number six to fashion he 5-2 final score.
 
SE again picked up a doubles win over the Tigers as Finet and Nice repeated their feat from earlier in the week and took the top match 6-4.
 
Kruger and Lena added another win as well, taking the two spot 6-2 to offset a loss at three and earnt he point.
 
Unfortunately, Scoppetta was the only Storm player to tack on a singles win, picking up a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the number one position.
 
SE would go on to drop four of the five remaining matches in a 4-2 loss.
