Storm Down Rival Tigers in Non-Conference Matchup

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to propel itself to a 9-3 victory over East Central on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in the first official game at the renamed Mike Metheny Field.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 15-18 overall on the season heading into a three-game home series against Southern Nazarene on April 12-13.
 
Drew Bolin and Davis Jenks turned in two hit efforts, while Caleb Dubler, Colton Buckner, Harrison Whitworth, and Regan Warren each logged a hit.
 
Slayde Ortiz drove in three runs on the contest, while Bryce Deatherage added a pair of RBI.  Jacoby Adkins, Jenks, Whitworth, and Warren each drove in a run as well.
 
The Storm used seven pitchers as Jacob Bigham got the start and tossed two innings, allowing a run on five hits with one strikeout.
 
Collin Jameson tossed 1.2 innings in relief and allowed a pair of runs on three hits before handing to Jordan Compton who covered 1.1 innings and allowed just two hits while striking out one.
 
Kason Grant would throw the next inning and allow a hit while earning the win.
 
Kenneth Klier followed with an inning pitched and one K, with Beau Swimmer tossing the eighth inning and allowing a hit while striking out one.
 
Logan Teske would toss the final inning and strike out two of the three batters he faced.
 
ECU took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Storm answered when Buckner scored as Ortiz reached on an error to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The Tigers would score a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to open up a 3-1 lead.
 
The Storm would take advantage of three ECU errors in the bottom of the sixth, with Jenks, Ortiz, Warren and Deatherage all driving in runs to regain the lead and go ahead 6-3.
 
Ortiz would reach on another error and plate a run in the seventh followed by an RBI single by Whitworth to go up 8-3.
 
Adkins would tack on a sac fly in the eighth to bring home Bolin for the final run in a 9-3 win.
