Storm Swept in Sunday Twinbill

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern pitchers struggled to retire hitters all afternoon as the Savage Storm dropped both ends of a double-header to Oklahoma Baptist on Sunday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The losses drop SE to 5-6 overall and 0-3 to start Great American Conference play heading into a non-conference, mid-week matchup with East Central at 2 p.m. on Feb. 18 back at Mike Metheny Field to close out the 12 game home stand that opened the season.

SE dropped Sunday's opener 13-2 in a run-rule shortened game before falling 16-0 in the series finale.

In game one, Joseph Ramirez collected a pair of hits to lead the SE offense, while six others picked up a hit each with the Storm posting eight hits as a team.

OBU took the lead early with two runs in the first inning, taking advantage of a Storm error and a two-run homer to take a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second the Stork took advantage of an Anthony Cassos walk and an Ortiz single with an RBI single by Joseph Ramirez to close the gap to 2-1.

A pair of solo homers would power a three-run third inning for OBU as the Bison took a 5-1 lead midway through the third inning.

Eusay would draw a walk to lead off the bottom of the third and would score from first on an RBI double by Richard Ware to close to 5-2.

Unfortunately, the Bison would follow up with four runs in the top of the fourth and four more in the sixth to mount a 13-2 advantage midway through six which would hold to be the final in seven innings.

In the finale, Colton Buckner collected a pair of hits, while Ortiz, Ramirez, and Niko Piazza picked up one each.

Davis Jenks got the start and tossed four innings and was tagged for four runs, three earned, on six hits with one strikeout while taking the loss.
