Potter Works Magic in Complete-Game Win

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern got a complete-game victory from Jacob Potter en route to a 6-1 win over Arkansas Tech in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win is the team's third-straight and lifts the Savage Storm to 9-8 overall and 2-5 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a Saturday double header with first pitch set for noon.

Potter tossed his first complete game of the season and the first nine-inning complete game for any SE pitcher on the year. He scattered four hits and allowed one run while striking out six. He opened the game by retiring the first 13 batters he faced.

Colton Buckner finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a home run and accounted for four of the team's RBI, while Richard Ware drove in one.

Niko Piazza, Anthony Cassos, and Joseph Ramirez each collected hits, while Chris Eusay and Grant Bruce each drew a pair of walks and scored once.

Buckner put the Storm on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run shot to left that plated Eusay for a 2-0 lead.

Ware would push the lead to 3-0 on an RBI fielder's choice which was followed a batter later by a Buckner two-run double to stretch the advantage to 5-0 after two innings.

ATU would get one back on a solo homer in the top of the fourth to close the score to 5-1.

The Storm would tack on a run in the seventh, taking advantage of a pair of Wonder Boy errors to allow Buckner to reach and come around to score to make the lead 6-1 which would hold to be the final score.
