Storm Split Saturday Games in Edmond

EDMOND, Okla. – Southeastern opened its Saturday action with a 5-1 victory over Missouri Southern State before closing out the day and the weekend with a 6-5 loss to Colorado Mines in the finale of the UCO Invitational in Edmond, Okla.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 4-4 overall on the season.
 
In the opener against the Lions, Kady Fryrear collected a pair of hits and a pair of RBI to lead the offense, while Bailey Beard and Kyia Monahwee each added a hit.
 
Augusta Duty and Gracie Ore each added an RBI.
 
Amber Walsworth got the start in the circle and tossed 4.0 innings to collect her first win after allowing a run on two hits.
 
Katie McCullar threw 3.0 innings in relief and picked up her first save of the season.
 
MSSU put up a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead early which held up until the bottom of the fourth inning when Fryrear tied the game on a double that scored Monahwee.
 
The Storm would finish the inning by taking a 2-1 lead after Duty laid down a squeeze bunt to score Tena Spoolstra.
 
In the fifth inning Symphoni Shomo would score on a passed ball which was immediately followed by an RBI single by Fryrear to plate Beard for a 4-1 lead.
 
Ore would add another run with a sac fly in the bottom of the sixth to make the final tally 5-1.
 
At the plate in game two, Shomo and Fryrear lead the way with two hits each, while Ivy Amador turned in a pair of RBI, while Tena Spoolstra, Karsyn Brigance, and Fryrear would add an RBI each.
 
Ashley Hedrick got the start and took a no decision after tossing 2.0 innings and allowing two runs on four hits.

McCullar came on to throw 3.0 innings and allowed two runs on five hits before Kamarie Wallace  came on to throw the final inning and was saddled with the loss after allowing two unearned runs on two hits.
 
In game two the Storm struck first with a squeeze bunt by Brigance to plate Shomo for a 1-0 lead, followed two batters later by an RBI single by Fryrear to take a 2-0 lead.
 
Mines would respond in the bottom half however with a pair of runs to tie the game at 2-2.
 
Spoolstra would put SE back in front with an RBI groundout in the second that scored Wallace.
 
Amador tacked on two more runs with a two-run homer to left, pushing the lead to 5-2 midway through the third inning.
 
A sac fly by the Orediggers in the bottom of the fourth would cut into the SE advantage, making it 5-3.
 
CSM would an RBI single to score a run in the bottom of the sixth, but the real damage came two batters later when two runs came home on an error to put the Storm in a 6-5 hole.
 
Brigance would open the seventh by drawing a walk, but the next three hitter would go in order as SE would fall 6-5.
