Softball Splits Saturday, Wins Series over HU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern secured a series victory over Harding with a 7-6 win in Saturday's opener before dropping the series finale 6-2 at the Southeastern Softball Field.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 15-9 overall on the season and 7-5 in Great American Conference play.
 
Seven different hitters each collected one hit in the opener, while Karsyn Brigance, Ivy Amador, and Gracie Ore each drove in a pair of runs. Katie McCullar added an RBI as well.
 
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed 3.2 innings in a no decision, allowing four runs on nine hits with one strikeout.
 
McCullar would come on in relief and pick up the win after allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with two K's.
 
SE would get on the board with a Brigance squeeze bunt which plated Symphoni Shomo for a 1-0 lead.
 
The Bisons answered with two runs in the second to take the lead, but the Storm found an answer in the third.
 
In the third inning Brigand and McCullar each connected on RBI singles to regain the lead and that was followed by an Amador two-run doubles and a two-RBI single by Gracie Ore to take a 7-2 lead after three.
 
HU would strike back with two runs in the fourth and a run each in the fifth and seventh but the Storm would hold on for the 7-6 victory.
 
In the series finale Tena Spoolstra collected three hits and Kady Fryrear added two to pick up five of the team's nine hits.
 
Fryrear and Amador each posted an RBI in the game.
 
Ashley Hedrick got the start and tossed a complete game in the loss, allowing six runs, five of them earned, on 13 hits.
 
The Bisons jumped to a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two more in the third inning.
 
SE answered with a Fryrear solo homer in the fourth to make it 3-1.
 
HU would tack on three more runs before an Amador solo shot in the seventh to make the final score 6-2.
