COMMERCE, Texas – Southeastern closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night with a 3-0 road loss to Texas A&M-Commerce in Commerce, Texas.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 7-14 overall on the year heading back into Great American Conference play on Oct. 28 with a 7 p.m. matchup with Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla.

Skylor Lewis and
Caroline Griffith led the way on offense with six kills each, while
Jadyn James added five and
Madison Martinez chipped in four.

Ruthie Forson dished out 21 assists and tacked on a pair of kills on offense, while adding seven digs on defense.

Grace Shehadeh led the defense with 16 digs, while
McKenzie Turkoly was next in line with nine.

Lewis,
Mya Afflerbach, Griffith, and James each had a block.

Southeastern opened the match on a run, piling up an 8-2 lead early on and maintaining that lead till the closing points, holding a 23-21 lead when the Lions reeled off a 4-0 run to swipe the set 25-23.

Set two was back-and-forth to start, playing to a 6-6 tie before TAMUC used a 6-1 run to take a 12-7 lead before going to take the set 25-16.

The Lions carried that momentum into the third set and took a 5-1 lead out of the gate. SE would rally to within 8-6 after a Forson kill. That was as close as the set would get however as TAMUC would pull away to take the set 25-12.
