No. 18 Men's Tennis Wins Two on the Road

SHERMAN, Texas – No. 18 Southeastern men's tennis got back in the win column on Saturday with a double-header sweep, first taking down Austin College 7-0 before finishing the day with a 6-1 win over Texas-Dallas.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 2-1 on the season heading into a Feb. 11 matchup with Arkansas-Ft. Smith in Ft. Smith, Ark.
 
In Saturday's opener, the duo of Marin Jurkovic and George Botha put the Storm in front with an 8-1 win at the one doubles position.
 
Juan Scoppetta and Manuel Pillotto followed suit with an 8-2 win at number two before Guilherme Dos Santos and Thabo Ncube added an 8-0 win at number three.
 
In singles play, Pillotto polished off a 6-2, 6-2 win at number one for a 4-0 lead.
 
Dos Santos would clinch the win, pushing the lead to 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at number two.
 
Ncube followed that with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number three, while Gen Naraya closed out the matches that were finished with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number four to make the final tally 7-0.
 
In the nightcap, the Storm once again handled doubles play with a sweep, starting with a Juckovic and Botha nail-biting 7-6 win at the one position.
 
Dos Santos and Ncube would limit the drama and still pick up the win, 6-3, at the two spot.
 
Scoppetta and Pillotto rounded out doubles play with a 6-1 win at number three.
 
After a rare loss at the one position, Dos Santos got the Storm back on track with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number two.
 
Pillotto then stretched the lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number three.
 
Ncube would provide the clinching win at number four with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 come-from-behind win.
 
Jurkovic followed with a 7-5, 6-0 win at number five before Naraya closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win at number six to make the final score 6-1.
