Jacob Potter tossed his second complete-game of the season, striking out 11 in a 2-0 shutout victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State in the series opener on Sunday night in Alva, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 7-4 overall on the season and 4-3 in Great American Conference play, with the final two games of the series set for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Monday.

Potter fanned 11 over a complete nine innings, scattering six hits without allowing a walk. The win improves his record to 2-1 on the season in four starts.

Colton Buckner collected three hits on the evening to lead all hitters, while
Matt Miles,
Seth Morrow,
Slayde Ortiz, and
Joseph Ramirez each added one.

Morrow connected on his fourth home run of the season, while Miles added a double.
Â
Morrow's homer accounted for one RBI and Ortiz would pick up the other.

Ortiz put the Storm on the board in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single to plate Buckner from second for the 1-0 lead.

Morrow would lead off the sixth inning with a solo homer to right center to extend the lead to 2-0 midway through the sixth.

NWOSU would threaten in the bottom of the eighth inning, picking up back-to-back one-out hits before Potter coaxed a grounder to third which let
Rylee Holmes get the lead runner for the second out. Potter would finish he inning by picking off the runner at second for the third out.

He would come out in the ninth and retire the side, striking out two to secure the win.
