DURANT, Okla. – Six pitchers combined to allow an unearned run on four hits, while a
Colton Buckner homer and a
Rylee Holmes walk off sac fly accounted for the difference in a 2-1 midweek win over Northeastern State on Tuesday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 11-6 on the season heading into a big home Great American Conference series against Southern Arkansas March 26-27 back at Mike Metheny Field.

The pitching staff combined to allow an unearned run on four hits, carrying a shutout into the top of the ninth inning.

Dylan Turner got the start and tossed 3.0 innings, allowing a pair of hits and striking out four.

Connor Priest would follow with an inning of work, allowing a hit and striking out one, followed by an inning by
Coby Langford who faced four batters, allowing one hit and striking out three of them.

Jordan Compton followed with an inning of work as well striking g out one and walking one.
Â
KC Bryan tossed the next 2.0 innings, also allowing a walk and striking out one.

Logan Teske would throw the final 3.0 innings, allowing an unearned run without allowing a hit, but surrendering three walks across from one strikeout on his way to earning the win, his first of the season.

Seth Morrow continued to pout on the hits, finishing the game 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, while Buckner added a pair of hits, one of them a solo homer to give SE the lead.

Richard Ware and
Slayde Ortiz each added hits, while Holmes collected the team's second RBI.

The teams posted matching zeroes over the first five innings before the Storm broke through in the bottom of the sixth when Buckner connected on a solo homer to go up 1-0.

The Storm looked to be headed to a 1-0 victory, but an error on a controversial play to start the top kof then ninth would put a runner on for NSU, followed by a walk, a double play and a wild pitch which allowed the game tying run to come home.

Neither team could get any momentum in the 10
th, but SE would open the bottom of the 11
th with a Morrow single and he would move to second on a wild pitch.

Buckner would reach on a walk and
Reid Rice would get hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.
Â
Two batter later, Holmes would sail a ball into right centerfield which was caught, but Morrow scored easily from third to pick up the game winner in a 2-1 game.
