DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern survived a pair of out-of-conference scares on Tuesday afternoon against Midwestern State thanks to walk off hits by
Peyton Streetman and
Kyia Monahwee, as the Savage Storm were able to pick up a 5-4 win in eight innings in game one before closing the day with a 1-0 win in the nightcap at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The wins stretch the current SE winning streak to four games and lift the overall record to 21-3 on the season heading into an April 1-2 series hosting Oklahoma Baptist.

Cheyenne Mahy had a 3-for-4 outing in game one with a trio of RBI thanks to collecting three-quarters of the cycle with a homer, a triple, and a single on the day.

Monahwee and Streetman each added two hits, while
Kady Fryrear,
Augusta Duty, and
Kamarie Wallace had one apiece.
Â
Mahy's three RBI led all players, while Monahwee added one on a solo homer and Streetman collected one as well.

Ashley Hedrick got the start in the circle and finished with a no decision after allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits in 1.2 innings pitched.

Amberlyn Walsworth came on to toss 4.1 innings in relief and allowed an unearned run on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Mahy would finish out the contest with 2.0 innings of work, allowing a hit and striking out two to pick up the win.

MSU would post a pair of runs in the top of the first and add another in the second to open up a 3-0 lead.

A leadoff homer by Monahwee in the bottom of the second would get the Storm on the board at 3-1.

An inning later Mahy would tie the game at 3-3 with a two-run homer that also scored Fryrear.
Â
The Mustangs would regain the lead briefly with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but an RBI triple by Mahy in the bottom half would tie it up again at 4-4.

That's where it stayed until the bottom of the eighth inning when SE led off with back-to-back singles, setting the stage for Streetman's heroics, driving in Mahy with a single to right center for the 5-4 win.

The nightcap was a pitcher's duel in every sense of the word, as the teams combined for five hits.

Micayla Galloway got the start and tossed 4.2 innings, allowing two hits and striking out four in a no decision.

The decision would go to Mahy for the second-straight game as she held MSU hitless over 2.1 innings to pick up her 10
th win of the year.

Monahwee collected two of the three Storm hits in the game, with
Gracie Ore adding a triple.

The game remained scoreless into the bottom of the seventh inning, and looked to be heading to extra innings as well with two outs before Monahwee stepped to the plate and connected on a two-run home rot left center for the 1-0 victory.
