BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern bats bounced back after a month of, combining for 23 hits over two games, but needed a come-from-behind seventh inning to pick up a 4-3 win in game one at Southern Nazarene before dropping game two 6-3 to split a Saturday twinbill in Bethany, Okla.

The teams will meet on Sunday afternoon at noon for the rubber match in the series.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 3-1 to open the season and 1-1 in Great American Conference play.

Cheyenne Mahy was all-purpose in Saturday's opener, putting together a 3-for-3 effort at the plate with a home runs and a double before picking up the win by tossing the final inning and scattering a pair of baserunners before getting out of trouble with the victory.

Alexis Lambert picked up a pair of hits, while
Kady Fryrear, Gracie, Ore,
Kamarie Wallace,
Kyia Monahwee, and
Peyton Streetman each tacked on a hit.

Ore finished with a pair of RBI, while Mahy and Wallace had one apiece.
Â
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and took a no decision after throwing 4.1 innings and scattering three runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Ashley Hedrick came on to toss 1.2 innings in relief and allowed one hit and struck out one, while
Micayla Galloway faced one batter in the contest.

Mahy put the Storm on the board with a solo homer in the top of the fourth inning, but SNU answered with a solo shot of its own to tie the game at 1-1.

A pair of RBI hits in the bottom of the sixth for the Crimson Storm would leave SE in a 30-1 hole heading to the sixth.

Southeastern found its answer in the top of the seventh as Ore singled home Lambert and Streetman to knot the game at 3-3 before a Wallace double to center would plate Ore and give SE the 4-3 win.

In the nightcap, Fryrear, Wallace, Monahwee,
Jaleigh Durst, and Streetman each collected a pair of hits, but only Fryrear and Streetman were able to tack on an RBI.

Galloway got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched.

Mahy came on to toss 2.0 innings and was tagged for two runs on three hits with a K.
Â
Hedrick came on to toss 1.0 innings and allowed a run on two hits, while Walsworth threw the final inning and allowed a hit while striking out one.

Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the first inning staked SNU to an early 2-0 lead.

SE answered with a Streetman RBI single in the top of the second, but another RBI double in the bottom half gave the Crimson Storm a 3-1 edge.

They would tack on two more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to mount a 6-1 lead after five innings.

The Storm tried to mount a rally in the sixth inning as Fryrear doubled home Streetman and would come home on an error a batter later, cutting the deficit to 6-03, but ultimately that is where it would end. Â
