DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern opened the final home weekend of the season by splitting a Friday afternoon doubleheader against Arkansas Tech, dropping the opener 2-0 before closing out the day with a 5-1 win at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 33-7 overall on the season and 23-6 in Great American Conference play with the home finale slated for noon on Saturday afternoon.

It will also serve as Senior Day for the lone SE senior
Augusta Duty.

The Storm closed the day in style by snapping ATU's 15-game conference winning streak and doing so on the strength of a gem by
Cheyenne Mahy.

She would pick up her 16
th win of the season by tossing a complete game one-hitter, striking out four and facing 23 batters.

Peyton Streetman finished the contest 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, while
Kady Fryrear went 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch while also driving in a run.

Kamarie Wallace and
Jaleigh Durst each added a hit, with Wallace driving in a pair of runs and
Kyia Monahwee adding one RBI.

After the first two batters reached to open the bottom of the first inning for the Storm, Wallace would cash them in with a two-run single up the middle to take a 2-0 lead after one inning.

The Suns would get a run back on a fluke play in the top of the fourth with one out when the Storm let an infield fly drop looking to catch ATU napping and the ball would get away and the Storm were able to trick the Suns into the double play, but not before the runner on third was able to reach the plate, closing the gap to 2-1.

SE answered in the fifth, opening the inning with back-to-back singles before a pinch-running
Micayla Galloway would score when Mahy laid down a sac bunt but reached safely on an error, moving the lead to 3-1.

A batter later Monahwee would bring home Streetman on a sac fly, making the score 4-1. After five innings.

Fryrear would tack on a run in the sixth when she drove in Durst with an RBI single to take a 5-1 lead which would hold up as the final.

In game one, Streetman collected Southeastern's lone hit, a single to left in the bottom of the second inning.

Amberlyn Walsworth struck out eight in a complete game effort but allowed a pair of runs on nine hits in the loss.

ATU got on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the third to go ahead 1-0.

The Suns tacked on a run in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of a triple and an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead which would hold up as the final score.
