DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern collected a trio of home runs and carried a lead into the eighth inning, but Southwestern Oklahoma State would score two in that inning to send the game to extra inning s where they would hand the Savage Storm a 10-9 loss in 10 innings in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 11-13 overall on the year and 7-12 in Great American Conference play heading into the final two games of the series which are set for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The SE offense put together 10 hits, with three of them coming from
Colton Buckner who finished the contest 3-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.

Blake McQuain and
Seth Morrow each had a pair of hits, with Morrow connecting on a three-run homer to finish the contest with three RBI.

Matt Miles would collect a solo homer before leaving the game in the bottom of the second inning.
Â
Richard Ware and
Slayde Ortiz each added hits as well.
Â
Miles, McQuain, Ware, and Ortiz each added an RBI as well.

Jacob Potter got the start after missing his last two scheduled outings and tossed 5.0 innings and allowed six runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in a no decision.

Logan Teske would come on to throw the next 2.1 innings and was tagged for three runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Jacob Bigham worked an inning and allowed a hit over five batters faced before
Dylan Turner came on and tossed an inning, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts but taking the loss.

Kenneth Klier would record the final two outs, striking out one of the two hitters he faced.

SE opened scoring in the contest in style as Miles took the first pitch in the bottom of the first inning over the right field wall for a 1-0 lead.

A Ware walks and a Morrow single put the runners on for an RBI groundout by Ortiz before Morrow came home on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.

SWOSU would find an answer in the top of the second with a solo homer and a two-run shot to tie the game at 3-3.

The Storm answered with a run in the bottom of the second when Holmes scored on a Ware RBI single for a 4-3 lead.

The Bulldogs answered again in the top of the third with an RBI single to tie the game and would take a 5-4 lead with a solo homer in the top of the fourth.

This time the Storm would answer in the bottom of the fourth with a McQuain sac fly to bring in Holmes to tie the game at 5-5.

A solo homer in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth would put SWOSU back in front 7-5.

SE bounced back strong in the bottom of the sixth, with McQuain connecting non a two-out single followed by a Ware walk to set the table for a Morrow three-run homer which was immediately followed a batter later by a solo shot from Buckner to open up a 9-7 lead after six innings.

The Storm carried that lead into the top of the eighth inning, but paid the price for a pair of Teske walks and a Bigham hit batter as the Bulldogs got a two-out, two run single to plate the tying runs, making the score 9-9.

That is where it would stay into the top of the 10
th inning where back-to-back leadoff singles would put SWOSU in position to drive home the go ahead run on a sac fly to take a 10-9 lead which would end up as the final score.
