DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern closed out a Friday twinbill with a 5-2 win over Colorado Christian, bouncing back from a series-opening 10-8 loss to open the day at Mike Metheny Field.
Â
The split moves the Savage Storm to 5-1 to open the year with Saturday's doubleheader set for an 11 a.m. start.
Â
Reid Rice and
Dylan Herd each collected a pair of hits in the nightcap, with a
Richard Ware homer accounting for three RBI while

Â
Conner Priest got the start and tossed 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on two hits with six strikeouts.
Â
Kenneth Klier tossed an inning and allowed a hit while striking out one before
Jackson Sioson came on to record the save after allowing a hit in an inning of work.
Â
CCU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Storm would find an answer in the bottom of the third as McQuain put SE on the board with an RBI single to bring in
Bryce McDermott and a batter later Ware would homer to right two plate three and take a 4-2 lead.
Â
Rice would lead off the fourth inning with a solo homer to push the lead to 5-2 which would hold up as the final margin.
Â
In the opener,
Brett Gonzalez posted a pair of hits while five others picked up one each.
Â
Matt Miles, Ware,
Seth Morrow, Gonzalez,
Cameron French,
Angel Ochoa, and
Ollie Thompson each drove in a run.
Â

Â
Jacob Davenport tossed an inning in relief and was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs, two of them earned despite not allowing a hit.
Â
Beau Swimmer was tagged for a run after facing five batters without recording an out before handing over to
Coby Langford who allowed an unearned run on two hits in one inning pitched.
Â
Dillion Bumgarner would toss the final 2.0 innings without allowing a run, while striking out two and scattering two hits.
Â
The Cougars jumped out to 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with SE chipping away at that deficit in the second with an RBI double by Ochoa.
Â
CCU would add another run in the top of the third, but the Storm would answer in the bottom half with a French RBI single before Gonzalez stole home on the double steal to close the gap to 5-3.
Â
Gonzalez would drive in a run with a double in the fifth and SE would cap the rally in the sixth with an RBI single from Miles and a sac fly from Morrow to take a 6-5 lead after six.
Â
Unfortunately, that lead would not past long as CCU answered with five runs in the fifth to take a 10-6 lead.
Â
Damon Burroughs would lead off the eighth with a triple and score on a Ware RBI, and in the ninth inning Thompson would double home Ochoa to close to 10-8, but the Storm would leave the tying run at second base in a 10-8 loss.
