DURANT, Okla. – Every time Southeastern made a play, Harding had an answer as the Savage Storm dropped both ends of a back-and-forth doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field, dropping the opener 12-7 before falling 8-5 in the finale.

The losses drops the Savage Storm to 9-8 on the season overall and 0-2 in Great American Conference play with the series slated for 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

In the opener,
Peyton Streetman,
Cheyenne Mahy,
Kyia Monahwee,
Marilyn Alvarado, and
Jaleigh Durst each collected one hit.

Kady Fryrear drove in a pair of runs, while Streetman,
Gracie Ore,
Kamarie Wallace, and Durst each drove in a run.

Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and took a no-decision after allowing seven runs, five of them earned, on eight hits in 2.2 innings of work with three strikeouts.

It was Mahy who would absorb the loss after tossing the final 4.1 innings and allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out three.

HU took the lead in the top of the first with a solo homer, but the Storm answered with some small ball as Fryrear would squeeze home Streetman to knot the game at 1-1.

The tie would not stick for long as the Bisons would tack on three runs in the top of the second inning.
Â
Southeastern would respond in a big way, sending 10 hitters to the plate in the bottom half of the second, with a Durst RBI double getting the scoring started followed by an RBI from Streetman that plated Alvarado as well as Beard on an error, tying the game at 4-4.

SE followed with an Ore sac fly, another Fryrear squeeze bunt that brought home Streetman before Wallace would plate Mahy on an RBI groundout to take a 7-4 lead.

Harding would answer with a three-run third inning to tie the game, and added a three-run effort in the fourth with two more in the fifth to fashion the final score of 12-7.

In the nightcap, Durst led the way with a pair of hits, while Streetman, Ore, Fryrear, Monahwee, and Beard each added a hit.

Mahy would drive in a pair of runs, while
Keitian Bell and Fryrear added an RBI each.

Walsworth would again get the start in the circle, this time suffering the loss after allowing eight runs on 12 hits in 6.1 innings of work while striking out five.

Mahy would toss two-thirds of an inning and allow two hits with one K.
Â
HU would jump out to a 3-0 lead with a run in the second and two runs in the third.
Â
The Storm would start to answer in the fourth with a Fryrear single bringing home Streetman to close the gap to 3-1.

The momentum carried into the fifth where Beard scored on a bases loaded wild pitch to set up a Bell squeeze bunt that plated Durst to tie the game at 3-3.

A batter later Mahy would bring home Streetman on a sac fly to take a 4-3 lead.

HU would tie the game with an RBI single in the top of the sixth, and would put up four runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-4 lead.

The Storm would bring home a run I the seventh, but were unable to pull off the comeback in an 8-5 loss.
