Softball Scores 27 Runs in Sunday Sweep of NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern scored 27 runs over two games on its way to completing a series sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State, taking game one of Sunday's doubleheader 14-0 in five innings before rallying in the seventh to pick up a 13-9 win in the series finale in Alva, Okla.
 
The sweep lifts the Savage Storm to 17-11 overall and 8-3 in Great American Conference play while extending its winning streak to five games.
 
Cheyenne Mahy posted a 4-for-4 effort at the plate in game one to pace the Storm, with Marilyn Alvarado adding a three-hit effort.
 
Peyton Streetman, Kady Fryrear, and Micayla Galloway each added a pair of hits, while Lauren White, Kamarie Wallace, Gracie Ore, Jaleigh Durst, and Keitian Bell each added a hit.
 
Wallace would homer and drive in four for the contest, while Durst added a homer and three RBI.
 
Mahy would drive in a pair of runs, while White, Fryrear, Alvarado, Ore, and Galloway each drovew in one.
 
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and earned the complete-game victory after tossing five innings and allowing just one hit while striking out seven across from no walks.
 
Streetman led off the game with a walk and moved to second on a Lambert sac bunt before scoring on a Mahy RBI double to put the Storm on the board 1-0.
 
Mahy would bring home Streetman again in the top of the third to push the leads to 2-0, and two baters later she would come home on a Wallace two-run homer to left center, doubling the lead to 4-0.
 
It didn't end there as Alvarado followed with a double and then scored on an Ore RBI single before Durst connected on a two-run blast to extend the lead to 7-0.
 
SE picked up its run in the fourth inning, with Wallace bringing home Mahy with a sac fly, followed by a Galloway RBI single to left.
 
Durant would then drive in Alvarado to stretch the lead to 10-0.
 
A Lauren White single would tack on a run in the top of the fifth, followed by an RBI double by Fryrear, pushing the lead out to 12-0.
 
Wallace added another sac fly to score Mahy and Alvarado rounded out the teams scoring with an RBI infield single to plate Fryrear and push the final score to 14-0 after triggering the five-inning run-rule.
 
In the finale, Bailey Beard, Fryrear, Wallace, and Lambert each had a pair of hits, while Mahy, Durst, and Ore each added one.
 
Fryrear and Ore each had a home run, while Wallace, Mahy, and Durst each doubled.
 
Fryrear would finish the contest with four RBI, while Wallace, Durst, and Ore each drove in two.
 
Mahy and Alvarado added one RBI apiece.
 
Mahy got the start and was tagged for five runs on five hits over four innings while striking out six in a no decision.
 
It was Walsworth who picked up her second win of the day with four runs on seven hits in three innings pitched.
 
SE jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with Mahy doubling home a run, while Wallace and Alvarado each squeezed home a run.
 
The Rangers would answer in the bottom half with a three-run home rot tie the game at 3-3.
 
A Wallace RBI double would give SE the lead back in the third, and a two-run single by Fryrear in the fifth would extend the advantage to 6-3.
 
NWOSU would answer though with four runs in the bottom half of the fifth, and added two more in the sixth to take a 9-6 lead into the final innings.
 
A two-run Frrear homer would get he rally started, and a Durst two-run double would regain the lead for the Storm ay 10-9.
 
Not finished, however, a batter later Ore would homer and Streetman would end the scoring when she score on a Ranger error to take a 13-9 lead into the bottom of the seventh which would hold up as the final.
