DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning against Arkansas-Monticello, but could not hold off the rally, opening its three-game series in Monticello, Ark., with a 3-2 loss on Friday afternoon.

The Savage Storm fall to 17-14 overall with the loss and 8-4 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.

The SE offense put together 10 hits, with Jaleigh Durst and Bailey Beard each collecting two, while six others logged one each.

Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed six innings while taking a no decision after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out 12.

Cheyenne Mahy suffered the loss in relief, recording one-third of an inning and allowing a run on two hits.

SE got on the board in the third, with Durst and Beard posting back-to-back singles to open the inning before a Streetman sac fly would bring home Durst for a 1-0 lead.

Both teams would stay off the scoreboard until the top of the sixth inning when a Streetman single would drive in Durst to push the lead to 2-0.

UAM would lead off the b9ottom of the sixth with a homer to trim the SE advantage to 2-1 heading to the seventh.

The Storm would not add to its lead in the top half and the Cotton Blossoms would connect on three-straight hits to end the contest, scoring runs on the final two to swipe the game by a 3-2 final.
