Savage Storm Split Twinbill at UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Cheyenne Mahy tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Southeastern to a 2-0 win over Arkansas-Monticello in game one, but dropped the series finale 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Monticello, Ark.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 18-15 overall on the season and 9-5 in Great American Conference play.
 
Mahy tossed her second complete-game shutout in the last two weeks, tossing seven innings and scattering four hits while striking out four to earn her ninth win of the season.
 
Alexis Lambert and Mahy each had a pair of hits while Peyton Streetman, Jaleigh Durst, Marilyn Alvarado, and Lauren White had one hit each.
 
Durst's hit was a solo homer, while Mahy and White each doubled, with White driving in a run.
 
Durst's solo shot came in the second inning to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
 
SE would tack on an insurance run in the top of the sixth with an RBI double by White to plate Alvarado and fashion he final of 2-0.
 
In the finale, the Storm took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Kady Fryrear RBI single.
 
However, UAM would answer with a solo homer in the bottom of the third to tie the game and would pick up a walk-off win with another solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
 
Streetman and Fryrear each had a pair of hits, while Mahy, Gracie Ore, and Alvarado each added one.
 
Fryrear collected the team's lone RBI.
