DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern opened its weekend series with Southern Arkansas in a pitcher's duel as
Amberlyn Walsworth and
Cheyenne Mahy combined to strikeout nine and allow just six hits but found itself on the short end of a 3-2 final score at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 18-16 overall and 9-6 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.

Walsworth tossed 6.1 innings in her start, striking out seven and allowing five hits and three runs while taking the loss.
Â
Mahy would come on and record two-thirds of an inning of work allowing a hit and striking out one.
Â
Peyton Streetman collected a pair of hits, while
Kamarie Wallace and
Jaleigh Durst added one each.
Â
Durst and
Marilyn Alvarado each drove in a run.
Â
SAU scored first, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double in the third inning.

The Storm responded in the fourth, first with Durst bringing home Mahy on an RBI double to tie the game before Alvarado would drive in a pinch-running
Courtney Crane on a groundout to take a 2-1 lead.

The Muleriders would get a run back in the sixth on a solo homer and retake the lead with an RBI single in the top of the seventh, taking a 3-2 lead which would hold up as the final score.
