SE Swept in Saturday Doubleheader

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern saw a late rally come up short and an early lead disappear across a pair of losses on Saturday afternoon versus Southern Arkansas, dropping game one 4-2 before suffering a 12-1 loss in game two at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 18-18 overall and 9-8 in Great American Conference play.

In the opener, SE matched the Muleriders hit-for-hit, with Lauren White leading the way with two hits while Peyton Streetman, Kamarie Wallace, Jaleigh Durst, and Marilyn Alvarado each added one hit.

Kady Fryrear and White each drove in a run, while the Storm stranded 10 runners on the contest.

Cheyenne Mahy got the start and suffered the loss after tossing a complete game allowing four runs, just one earned, on six hits with five strikeouts.

SAU put a run on the board in the second and added two more unearned runs on a two-run homer in the fourth before adding one final unearned run in the top of the sixth for a 4-0 lead.

A White double would plate Wallace in the bottom of the sixth, and SE Fryrear would drive in a run with the bases loaded in the seventh to close the gap to 4-2, but that is where the rally ended.

The series finale saw SE get on the board first with a Mahy RBI single in the first.

SAU would answer with five runs in the second and would pull away with two more in the fourth and five again in the sixth to trigger the run-rule at 12-1.

Streetman finished the game with two hits, while Mahy added one hit and an RBI.

Amberlynn Walsworth got the start and took the loss after tossing 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits with four strikeouts.

Mahy would come on and toss 2.1 innings in relief and allowed five runs on six hits with one K.
